At first, you may very well find that these ‘wide nibs’ can be a little challenging and frustrating … the most common problem is getting the ink to flow steadily from the nib. Here are a few ‘dip pen general tips’ to help you get the hang of mastering this fine instrument faster:
For beginners, we recommend that you use ‘Black Ink’ to begin your first prcatice. Black ink is more viscous.
Because these nibs are relatively wide, you need to dip as much ink as possible.
Try to adjust the writing angle and pay attention to keep the correct angle of the pen. Then you need to vary the pressure you are applying on the nib. Please be more patient and practice more.
Once the ink stops flowing smoothly, dip the nib fully into a jar of water. wipe-off the ink on nib with paper towel when you have finished.
